The Black Panther Party or BPP was a revolutionary black nationalist and socialist organization active in the United States from 1966 until 1982, with its only international chapter operating in Algeria from 1969 until 1972, whose founders were Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. The original Black Panther Party was founded as a way for black neighborhoods to protect themselves against racist police brutality, but the original Black Panther Party no longer exists. Though there is a group calling themsleves "The New Black Panther Party".
