In history there has been different views in police brutality not only with people that have something to do with police but with different races there can be different views on police brutality. The author believes, “Surveys in recent years with minority groups — Latinos and African-Americans, in particular — suggest that confidence in law enforcement is relatively low, and large portions of these communities believe police are likely to use excessive force on suspects.” This supports the idea that peoples trust, respect, and confidence with law enforcement has decreased not only with one racial group but with different kinds. The author implies that “According to a Pew/USA Today poll conducted in August 2014, Americans of all races collectively “give relatively low marks to police departments around the country for holding officers accountable for misconduct, using the appropriate amount of force, and treating racial and ethnic groups equally.” This particularly benefits my belief that people from many races have lost a lot of respect to police authority and maybe law enforcement in general.
Some people may have is the type of view on when the cop is right, although their actions aren’t. My cousin Sergio is one of those people where they believe that way of cops so I decided to ask him the same question I asked my friend, how does he feel about police brutality? He answered, “I think that police that end up making their choice on when they assault people is stupid but also depending on the situation of the problem of the crime scene. If there was like something stolen I don’t understand why police would have to attack you if they know they’re going to get what you stole in return, but if it had to do something with like shooting people or killing someone then it’s understandable to act and take the person down.” Therefore, in his statement he clearly says that there are times when cops have to take action but not all the time. In conclusion, that’s what I believe in the different types of debates there is on police brutality good, bad, or neutral there all different views in life.
