There are many points of views that differ on the topic of police brutality depending on where these people come from. There are points of views where people have families that have family members that are involved with police in a positive way by being a police member or just friendly with them. There are others who have a different side of views on police when they don’t like them and just believe their corrupt and take complete control of their power and believe that most of the time they take their power to the next level. I myself am one of those people who are in the middle, when I believe that they are the good guys at a moment, although they are the evil ones taking things to the next level and doing things their own ways.
Historical debates are kind of the same as present day where we try our best to find a solution to end police brutality. In an article I found it states, “Charges of brutality and overreaction by police in several recent cases are prompting a reach for fresh answers to a longstanding problem: how to check the sometimes excessive use of force in police work.” Therefore, at this point in the article, the question isn’t, what can we do to stop police brutality? Instead a question in this article that stands out is more of a how much is too much of force are police putting in their work? The author implies, “Experts say that a more vigorous prevention effort is apt to have the most direct and lasting impact in reducing police brutality. This effort would range from more careful and thorough screening of recruits and training of new officers to setting the clearest possible guidelines for use of force.” This demonstrates that according to the author that if we work more on prevention it would be more long lasting and would help reduce force on police which they take on people.
There’s the point of view of those who believe that police are just wrong for taking their actions the way they do. I decided to ask this person who asked not to be named, how does he feel about police brutality and how has it affected you? He answered, “It sucks that in my neighborhood their steady stopping us and asking if we have guns, and if we answer no or no don’t give up guns they decide to beat us up.” Coming from the statement he answered made it looks like no matter what him or his friends answer the police are still going to pick on them and assault them physically.
