National Context
This issue of police brutality has a big part in history, locally, globally, and nationally. This issue makes a big impact in the United States because there has been injustices with cases that have to do with police and letting them get away with the injustices they have made. Americans everywhere have faced or dealt with police one way or another and for some circumstance there are times when cops feel like they might get assaulted so they end up reacting in some type of way that crosses the line. Not only has there been injustices in Ferguson, but theres been injustices with the police all over the country like in Chicago, Detroit, and New York for example.
In the Detroit news there was a report last night about a police man assaulting an auto worker. the good part was that there were consequences facing the police, he is being sent to jail and possibly can lead to 10 years in prison. Yes the police man is getting arrested but the autoworker demanded more from the court. he wanted all the policemen that were there to face the same consequences that one police man was facing because they were there the whole time and never bothered to stop the policeman. There was another huge crime event that happened in 2013 in Illinois. it was between one woman who said she was abused by cops and the courtroom wouldnt respond to her in a way where they felt that she wasnt telling the truth. so they decided not to do anything until they showed a live video footage of what occured in the woman’s store. in the video it showed that there were 10 cops in the building and there was one cop who put hand cuffs on the woman and the other telling her “I will hit you with this f*****g taser.” goes to show that sometimes not even the courtroom isn’t fair as well as the “protectors of society” are.
